Update

Well, I have come to my blog many times in the hopes of posting a new entry. Then I find that I have writer block.

What to share?
What NOT to share?
Do I share about Jonas? Do I share about Ellie?
Do I share how God is stretching me?

sigh

I am going for the easy this time.

ELLIE:
Still no word on her file. She is in IBESR, has been since April. My hunch is one of two things. One, they are still going over her file. Or Two, sh is now in dispensation. This is where we would have to have the President of Haiti sign off on her file and give us permission to adopt.

I find myself thinking about her a LOT lately. It hurts, but in the midst of my hurt is a strong, sound, very real sense of belonging! Funny how before I was hiding from the hurt and it is the hurt that confirms my sense of her belonging to me!

I hope and pray I get to see her again soon! I have been daydreaming of going to Haiti again. Unless God has a gift up his sleeve, this will have to wait till Spring. So not fair!

When I know something I will let you know! here are some recent photos of her.

JONAS:
Is such a blessing to our family! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank God for this little boy!

His English is amazing! But his comprehension is still shaky. He still takes everything literally.

He and Lillie are either attached at the hip having all kinds of adventures together, OR, annoying the crap out of each other being brother and sister! :)

He got a new bed. it is a bunk bed that is a loft type bed. He LOVES it! We love it! It makes his room look bigger. Thank you Jesus for providing this!

Recently he has become more focused on his birth mom. We refer to her as his "Haiti momma". We have always told him he has two moms, her and I. But recently he has become very excited at looking at pictures of her. So I felt like I needed to make an enlargement of a picture of him and her for his room. He went with me and Todd to pick it up. Then we let him pick out the frame for it. Once home he got to choose where to put it. I wish you could have seen his smile. Worth it for sure!

I also made a little hand held photo album of just pictures of his birth mom. Just for him. He liked that too!

My how he has grown! I have been sifting thru all the pictures I have of him getting ready to start his scrapbook (I have one for each of the kids), and wow has he grown!!!! Everyone in Haiti said he was short, everyone here says he is tall. Funny!

Here are some recent pictures of him.

Jona' best friend at church. They tell everyone they are twins!

ME:

God has been stretching me lately. All good, but painful at times. I am facing some ugly spots I would rather ignore, but he won't let me! :) He has been healing me of some old, deep, and painful hurts. I feel like my insides are finally catching up with my outsides. If that makes sense?

I have really been working on my self discipline. Something that has been needing attention. Still not ready to face the biggest one- my weight, but I am getting there.

I have recently taken a leave of absence from my school job. Many reasons.

Todd's car died. We are a one car family.
I needed time with my son.
no $ to pay for daycare.
And the list goes on...

So, God worked it out. I am continuing to work for my summer job with a local home care business. I sit with elderly people over night. I do this 4 nights a week and I am actually making more money than I did at the school corporation. It allows me to be home with Jonas. It allows Todd and I to share one vehicle till God provides another one. And the best part is I am a stay at home mom again!!! My girls LOVE it!

I will be homeschooling Jonas for preschool this year. I have most of my supplies ready. And I am very excited about it!

I will go back to the school corporation next fall. It is a win-win situation and I am thrilled!

Well that is all for now. i will try to do better and post again soon!

Hugs, Kristina

Thanks for the update Kristina! Ellie's smile continues to melt my heart. There's just something about it! And Jonas does look tall now! Sounds like he & Samara are on the same page with English. She speaks it well...not so much on the understanding...but I know that will come in time.

We need to get together sometime soon. It sounds like we are going through very similiar things right now in our personal journey.

That is awesome that you are able to stay at home for now!

Loved reading every bit of this, Kristina! Praise God for all He's doing in your life, and your willingness to share it. I will keep praying for your lovely Ellie to come home. My heart goes out to you. I honestly could never imagine going through another Haitian adoption, and we don't even have the bio kid factor to cause as many problems! I pray He'll give you peace and endurance.

Kristina -

About Jonas and his Haiti Momma. Elijah does this also. He will often make up stories about things his Haiti Momma and him did when he was Haiti - he also has a Haiti Daddy who is quite good at checkers. I think it is great that they keep that connection. I remember Daphne (Elijah's H.M.) in my prayers everyday. She gave us such an awesome gift and she and Jonas' H.M. should be honored. It just warms my heart.

Lifebooks are a great option for children who are adopted. It's their own private scrapbook that "fills in the blanks" from their birth until their "gotcha day". If you'd like more info, let me know. Sounds like Jonas would certainly cherish it.
