There is no way I am 40 years old today! Wasn't I just 23 years old graduating from college with the world at my feet? Hmmmm...
I have been reflecting a lot lately about my last 40 years. They are really full of life's ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade them for anything! I wouldn't be who I am today without all of that stuff.
I like who I am today. It took a long time to get here. I am not happy that I am overweight, but my outward appearance does not dictate who I am on the inside.
Even at 40 I struggle with accepting the life I have been given. In high school and college I had sooooooooooooooo many BIG dreams of what I was gonna do with my life. Where is that optimistic hard driven girl I once was? Don't get me wrong I love my life but it looks incredibly different from what I thought It would be.
I feel incredibly blessed by the family God has built for me. I have a husband that has gone thru the muck and back for me. He gets me...really gets me and he still loves me in spite of it! My children are such a blessing to me. I struggle with the balance of what kind of mom I thought I would be and the kind I am. I pray each day that I do not screw up these precious gifts God has given me! I believe God hand picked each child, whether born of my flesh or born of my heart, to teach me the best and worst inside of me. :)
I thought I would show you a few snippets of pictures of my life. Some good, some down right ugly! I think the little girl turned out good, don't you?
So bring it on 40's! I am ready for the challenge!

1st grade I loved my braids!
Everybody has a ugly picture. This is mine. I wanted my hair cut shorter and feathered like Farrah Fawcett. Uh...yeah right! The WORST hair cut I ever got and it made me feel soooooo ugly!
No comments on the glasses please. It was the style back then!

I think many of us have those same pictures! ;0) Not to mention a lot of us are fatter. ;0) Lord willing we are sweeter.
I will join you in the 40's in October. Funny how 40 seems to be an age of reflection! I totally get you, and I still love you as well!!!
