The Process

OK, first I want to say thank you for coming up with some really good questions for me to answer. Be patient, it will take me a bit to answer all of them.

The one I chose to answer first is where we are in the process? First let me state again in my left hand column you will see "adoption 101 Jonas" . This is a step by step explanation of Jonas' process and where we are. I try to keep it updated, but realize the process changes a LOT in Haiti. And this is a very simple explanation. For every step you read about there are a bunch of little steps within it.

We are currently still in Parquet. Our file was pulled to go before the Haitian president for his approval because we have 3 biological children already we do not qualify for adopting a Haitian orphan. Silly I know. But I do have my file number...42-9.

We have been in this stage for weeks now and it is starting to get on my nerves a bit. BUT, I just got word that as far as they know it will cover Jonas AND Ellie's adoption!!!!!!!!!! I am so so so relieved about this. I was fearful that if the proposed new adoption law passed in Haiti, that we still wouldn't qualify with it to adopt Ellie. At least adopting Jonas makes sense because we have all girls. But as Todd points out God already made the decision that Ellie is ours and it doesn't matter how many laws are passed, God would make a way!

To my knowledge Ellie's process still hasn't started. We are still waiting for the Haitian government to declare her a legal orphan. She has no parents. It is a bit frustrating because our 6 month waiting for her to be declared legally abandoned was up in September of 07. But, in theory, once she is declared an orphan her process should fly thru. there will be no parents to interview and her own country will have already acknowledged her as an orphan. Plus we will have been investigated already for Jonas. So, again I say it is a theory. We will see.

That is all I know at this point. I hope this answers your questions where this is concerned.

Now I want to share some of the pictures that we have gotten over the past few months of the kids. I did another video. I needed something to keep me busy while I waited for news from Haiti! The song is what I played for Todd on the way to the airport for his first trip to Haiti. But I think the words also apply to Jonas and Ellie too. Hope you enjoy it. (And yes there are a few older pics.)

Hugs, Kristina
