A Piece of Joy!

Today we got to talk to our children via a web cam and computer! It was the coolest thing ever! I can't even begin to describe the leap of joy my heart did when I heard that little gravely voice of my son.....ahhhh... tears flow even now.

Three Angels parent liaison put together a plan for us waiting parents to be able to ease the waiting period with visits over the internet. It worked!!!!!! Parents could sign up for 15 minute slots each. Our problem was, and is, we don't have a web camera on our computer. Thankfully the parents who do gave us invitations to come to their house for our call. So we went to the Collins' house. And it turns out Todd's brother and their family did too. It was like a little party.

We were all so excited and nervous. Would it work? Would the kids be able to see us and hear us? The O doesn't have a web cam yet (one is being sent on the trip in Feb.) so they could see us and hear us, but we could only hear them. But we didn't mind.

We all kinda held our breath as the call was ringing thru and then Sandy picked up and we could hear them!!!! Shawn and Angela went first. I found myself tearing up as they visited with their children. It was such a privilege to be a part of it. Then all of a sudden they lost the connection. Uh, yeah....that would be my son! He was excited and pushed buttons! (I'm shaking my head) When we finally got connected back and Sandy told us what happened we all just laughed. She said we better visit with Jonas next. So our turn came.

How do you communicate with your child who doesn't really speak your language, and you don't speak his? I don't know, but we did!!!! He said he loved us right away...in English! We asked him some questions and Steven (Shawn and Angela's son) helped him to understand what we were saying. I'll never forget though when he clearly said, "Papa Todd come see me". I thought Todd's heart was gonna break! He wants to go so badly. It's been over a year and he is aching to go. How do you explain to them that it is expensive to fly there? sigh.

Then Ellie got on. She didn't say much but we knew she could see us. There was a lot of giggling on both ends. We heard Jonas tell her to come here and sit down. He said it in Creole but those three words we know.

After our turn it was time for Troy & Cathy (Todd's brother). Cathy had written down all the things she wanted to say. I wish I had thought of that! It was so sweet just to be able to do this and be able to see other families connecting! This idea was perfect!

They plan on continuing these meeting via the internet twice a month. It is so exciting knowing we will be able to visit with our precious children on a regular basis. The picture above was taken by Sandy during our web visit. I never dreamed we would get a picture! Yeah! Thanks Sandy!

Hugs, Kristina

What a blessed opportunity! I can only imagine the joy Jonas felt as he listened to his mama and papa talk to him! I bet Ellie was grinning ear to ear, as well. :)

Love,
Colleen

i'm so happy for you guys!! what an amazing thing to be able to do!!

i know that the adoption process isn't smooth or easy, but thank God for the amazing group of people at Three Angels that work so hard and always walk the extra mile to see that things are a little smoother and a little easier.
