Jonas Update

So a lot has happened over the past few weeks. I am sorry I haven’t been regular in posting. Our internet connection has been lousy and we are looking into getting a cable hookup to avoid all the issues we are having.

So here is what has been going on.

Snoopy Gus
Before Jonas came home he was telling everyone that Papa Todd and his dog Snoopy were coming to take him home. As I told Gretchen when she told me this, we don’t have a dog. Maybe he was just confused about his room being decorated in Snoopy. Nope, he said he had a dog named Snoopy.

Hmmmmm…..

What to do? We have always wanted one. Small one! And a lot of the smaller animals in our house have died. I have a hamster grave yard in my backyard to prove it!

So after Jonas came home we started looking for a dog. We hit all the shelters but they only had bigger dogs. We didn’t have a lot of money to buy one. Well, we didn’t think it was wise for us to spend a lot on a dog. A friend of ours had a Chorky ( a cross between a Yorkie and a Chihuahua). It was the perfect size.

Well we found one and went and got him. We were going to call him Snoopy, but honestly he didn’t look like a Snoopy. So I decided he would be named Gus. Jonas calls him Snoopy Gus. J

We are all happy and Gus is adjusting nicely.

1st Dentist Appointment
Jonas had his first dentist appointment. And we were a bit nervous on how he would do. You see Jonas is known for trying to bite doctors in Haiti. In fact once they had to hold him down and cover his mouth just to get a shot. Funny, but true.

Well I think the pictures speak for themselves, Jonas did GREAT! He sat in his chair and let them look at, clean and floss his teeth! They even did a fluoride treatment! Bravo Jonas!!!!

Feeding the Ducks
Everyday I get up early to get ready and go to work. Most days Jonas isn’t up before I leave. So when I get home every afternoon he comes running out of the house to say hi and hug and kiss me. Some days he asks me if we can go somewhere together. Well I can’t do it everyday but this past week I made sure we did something. I wanted to do something special that he would enjoy but wouldn’t cost a lot of money.





I thought he might like to feed the ducks at a local park. We had done it before during one of our picture in the park days that the kids had gone with us.

So we went to our local bread outlet store and bought a loaf of bread and headed to the park. We had so much fun! We talked all about the ducks and why we feed them bread. At one point he had a piece of bread hanging out of his mouth eating and feeding the ducks at the same time. Too cute! He was so careful to make sure the little birds got some bread too.

After the bread was all gone I sat on the bank of the lake and Jonas sat on my lap and we just watched the ducks. It was such a surreal moment. I drank it in. I just silently praised God for this moment in time with my precious son!

I didn’t get pictures from our alone time together but I did from a previous time.

FLOWERS

One of my fondest memories from growing up is my MiMi’s back yard filled with flowers. It was beautiful! I swear she could grow anything just by touching it. A few years back in memory of her I started planting a few flowers on my back deck in pots. Nothing major, but a little something to brighten it up a bit.

Here are some pictures of our family night planting flowers together. Jonas and the girls loved it and we all laughed and talked the whole time. It was sweet joy to do something so simple together.
