Todd and I have never felt good about just leaving them without an explanation. We want them to understand we love them very much, but that we have to leave the next day. That we WILL be coming back!
This time we asked a woman at the guest house who speaks really good English as well as Creole to come in our room and help us explain something to Jonas. She helped us to explain to him that he would be coming home to Evansville soon. That the next time his Papa Todd came it would be to take him home. And that his sister Ellie wouldn't be coming home at the same time as him. We wanted him to understand that we wouldn't just be leaving her , but that we had to wait for her paperwork to be done.
He said he understood. We hoped and prayed he did.
A little later I was in our room straightening it up a bit and Jonas came in and we had a fun conversation.
Jonas- mama next time I go home. (statement not a question)
Me- Yes, next time you will go home with us.
Jonas- To my noopy (snoopy) room?
Me- Yes! To your Snoopy room.
Jonas- To my noopy bed?
Me- Yes! Your bed has Snoopy on it! And Snoopy is on the wall too!
Jonas- Something in Creole that I didn't understand but he was excited.
Me- shaking my head yes said,"uh huh!"
Then he took off to find Todd. I have no idea what I agreed to I was just so excited he gets it. Really understands. All the pictures I sent of his bed and room and our house and people who will be a part of his life. He made the connections. All the silly little Snoopy stuff I sent down so he would get comfortable with seeing him and not be scared...he gets it!!!! And how cute is it that he says "noopy"? Gosh I love this boy!
That little conversation just made my heart happy! Jonas is my little Snoopy man! I love you buddy and miss you greatly! It won't be long! Your file is on the 2nd of 3 desks in MOI. Soon, very soon!!!!!!
Hugs, Kristina
