History

So here is a little history. I was asked how and when did Todd and I meet?

October of 1992 Todd and I met at a Bible study at our local college.

I had already graduated from college, but the only Sunday school class that was close to my age was the college class. So I was friends with a lot of people in the college class. One of them was heading up this Bible study at the university.

I had been going to it for several weeks. The week before the leader had asked some friends of his to come, Todd Bacon & Jenny Mayor. They decided to start coming. The following week they brought Todd with them.

Todd and I happened to sit at the corner of the table next to each other. And since we are both outgoing people it wasn't long and we were talking to each other. He had brought an electronis Bible with him and I had the traditional manual Bible. Before I knew it we were in a competition on who could look up the verses faster. Note all he had to do was input the first three letters of the book and chapter/verse number and the computer would pull it up.

Well, sad to say for him....I WON!!!!!!

After the Bible study was over we stood around talking and Derek (the leader) invited Todd & Jenny and my Todd to our college gathering the next night. They said they would come.

Todd and I talked about all kinds of things that night at the Bible study. Especially music. He told me about this family christian group I should listen to. I said ok.

Fast forward the next night. We are at my church getting ready for the gathering. Todd, Todd and Jenny do show up. It was so cool. As I am running around getting things ready Todd comes up and hands me a tape of the group he tod me I should listen to. I said great I'll listen to it and get it back to you. He said no, it was for me to keep.

LIGHT BULB moment!

He was the one. I just knew it! I had spent the last couple of months telling God I was tired of looking and he would have to bring the right one to me.

The rest of that evening is a haze. I remember I sang at it and Todd later told me when he heard me sing he definatly couldn't get me off his mind. We talked a lot on the phone. And one night we were going to go on a double date with his best friend. Well before Todd came to get me my mom and I got into a HUGE fight. When he came to pick me up I was on the front curb crying. I'm sure I looked a sorry sight. But he helpped me up and took charge of it all. He helped me find my brother that had taken off on his bike and waited patiently while my brother and I talked things over. Then we finally got to go for pizza with his friends. Later that night we sat in my driveway for several hours just talking. Talking about everything under the sun.

Finally when it was time for me to go in I said something that would shock most people. I told Todd if he asked me to marry him tomorrow I would say yes. And that I hope that didn't scare him.

His reply?

I understand how you feel, and it takes a lot to scare me!

The next week he bought me an engagement ring! But I didn't know that because he waited till New Years Eve to ask me. He wanted it to be a surprise. And a surpise it was.
We were at our friend's house in Lexington Ky. We were playing pictionary, guys against girls. I happen to be in a chair up front. There was time for one final round, guys up. They said Todd why don't you go again? So Todd goes up and starts drawing a ring. The guys are saying all kinds of stupid things like, an oreo cookie, a donut. The whole time I'm thinking these guys are stupid if they can't see it's a ring. Then one of them shouts, "It's a ring." and the next thing I know Todd is on his knee asking me to marry him!

Of course I said YES!!!!

We got married that year. November 20, 1993

We have had many pictures taken over the years. 14 years of marriage we have had! But my favorite picture taken ever is this one. It was taken in 2004 on the front porch of his parents cabin.

I think the most unique pictures we have ever had taken, were our pregnancy pictures. We did them before they were the thing to do. Todd and I both love the look of a pregnant woman's body. There is just something so beautiful about it. Maybe it's because of the miracle of life growing inside of the belly. We decided to do it for every pregnancy. And boy are we glad we did. The girls love seeing what mommy looked like when they were inside my belly. So here they are in order of pregnancies. (Jessica, Megan, and Lillie) They were taken about 2 weeks before I gave birth.

Hey! I remember most of that!

Wasn't the fact that after my Dad died right before the end of highschool and Todd expressing his condolences (don't remember any other male friend from HS ever doing that) and then him seeing Jenny and I at the "Carnival" in Mt. Vernon that year and me asking him what he was doing and him being all mysterious about "the business" and Jenny and I deciding to join and then us inviting Todd to that bible study that night a neat coincidence?

Love ya' both.

That is very cool. I knew bits and pieces but it was neat to read it in chronological order. That is so cool that he bought the ring after you said that. What a great guy! Love the pictures and your story is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing.
