1. Lost friends found- When Todd and I were first married we were in Amway. While in Amway we made many friends. Most of our group was in Lexington Ky. When I was pregnant with Jessica we made the decision to not renew our business agreement. That was 11 years ago. We have often wondered how and where everyone was now.
A couple of weeks ago I get an email
Kristina,
I want to make absolute sure you are who I think you are! I am Anne Wells (married to Jeff), used to live in Lexington, Ky. and was in Amway!!! Are you who I think you are??? I found your blog through my sister-in-law's blog (Lisa Wells, married to Chris Wells in Lexington) They are adopting from Haiti too! Let me know if it's you!
Anne Wells
How cool is that? We are now in touch with three of the couples from that time in our lives. And how amazing that all of them have a heart for adoption? We are doing a Picture In The Park for Lisa and Chris the first weekend in November. You can check out their adoption story HERE.
2. There is a growing number of couples who are adopting outside their own race.- All of us who are, have a desire for our children to understand their origin of race. I know since God called us to adopt Jonas and Ellie, I am more aware of families made up of all different colors.
More and more God shows me how we are all united by our one race- the human race. Todd and I are excited about new friendships being formed, and new people being placed in our lives!
Example- We are in the middle of our big fundraiser of Pictures in the Park over the next few weekends. Well we get an interesting call. This couple that lives in TN wanted to make an appointment. Seriously? TN? How on earth did they know about it?
They were going to be in town this last Sunday checking out houses and so they wanted to meet us. They came and had pictures taken. Is that cool or what? They are a beautiful family! And their boys are just as cute as can be! I told them they could join our Haiti group anytime they wanted to. And hey maybe they need to add a little girl someday. I know where they can find one! Welcome Robertson family! We look forward to getting to know you.
3. My trips to Haiti are not the only way I will meet other Haitians-He's got the whole world in his hands! As most of you know I LOVE doing video montages. They are therapy for me. I never dreamed in a million years that anyone other than those reading my blog would take interest in them. Neither did I know that you could get messages on You Tube.
Well I recently received a message that meant a lot to me.
Obviously You don't know me but I just recently viewed the video of your son Jonas and I was so touched by it that I wanted to write you a little message. I'm of Haitian descent and spent the first six years of my life in Haiti. Even though i was born into a very wealthy family, I know the struggles that young Haitian kids go through. I just want to thank you for allowing a beautiful child like your son to grow up in a society were he does not have to see the misery that is the poverty in Haiti. I'm very sure he will have a beautiful childhood with you as his mother. Just one person like yourself makes a whole difference
Sincerely,Emmanuel J.
I replied and then got this message:
Thank you Kristina for replying to my message..I apologize for not introducing myself in a proper manner....As you already know, my name is Emmanuel Justafort. I was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti, in 1984. I came to the United States when I was only 6 years old but I do remember quite a lot about my stay there. I was born to a very prosperous family in Haiti. My Grandfather was a General in the Haitian army, so my whole family were living very comfortably. Even though my family was not at all poor the situation in which the country was at that time did effect us. The day I was born I lost my birth-mother due to some medical complications. This is one of the reason I wanted to write to you. Nothing can compare to the love a mother has for her child and this was displayed in your video. Currently I'm living in Spring Valley NY, which is about 20 miles northwest of New York City. I've been living here for the past 17 years with my step-mother, father, grandma and the rest of my siblings. I attending college right now and have another year or so until I get my Criminal Justice degree. The world would be a better place if there where millions of kind people like yourself...Well I don't want to bore you with my life story, just wanted to let you know I was humbled and touched by what you have done. I will no doubt check the website.
God bless you,
Emmanuel Justafort
Emmanuel I am enjoying our conversations via emails. Thank you!
God is good and I love seeing my world get smaller. How about you?
Hugs, Kristina

I know that Chris and I are so excited to have the opportunity to spend the first weekend of Novemeber with you all and are so thankful that you are in our lives. That is awesome Kristina. It's just amazing how God continues to build a little community. Emmanuel was very encouraging. Who would of thought a video on You Tube...Good stuff!!
One of the things i LOVE about being involved w/ TA is that I see God's hand much more clearly than I do here in suburbia. Through people, through 'circumstance' - I seem to see His redemption and his sovereign ways so much more.
Thank you for sharing these stories!
