I have been on the phone and internet all day. My head is swimming with all the information and updates. I think I am at a point where I can finally update my blog. Whew!
I gave two interviews today. One for the local paper and one for Channel 14.
The word is getting out people! Adoptive parents everywhere are contacting their government officials and asking them to make a way to get our kids here to safety. Washington DC is noticing and moving! Yehaw!!!
Ok first for anyone who is adopting from Haiti here is the email I got from Senator Lugers office:
Good Evening,
Below is a portion of the briefing our office received from the Department of State in Washington . I wanted to make you aware of the information right away. I will contact you once any new information when it becomes available.
Adoptions Info
U.S. citizens with pending adoption cases in Haiti are requested to contact the Department of State at AskCI@state.gov for information about their adoption case. In your inquiry, please include: full name and contact information of parents, full name(s) of child(ren), date(s) of birth of child(ren) [if known], and the name and contact information of orphanage. Your constituents can find additional information about adoptions in Haiti at http://adoption.state.gov/news/Haiti.html.
Thank you.

I have already done this and I am very excited! We found out today that the US government does have a precendent for this. It is called a "Humanitarian parole status" which grants a visa to people from nations suffering from disaster. Haiti is not currently on the list of approved countries for this status...but we are working on that with calls to our government officials. We ARE filing for this request for Ellie. Even if you are not adopting you can call your representatives and ask them to make it possible for those of us who are to bring our kids home!
PLEASE pray for this all to happen and we get a way to get her here where she can be safe!
Update from Haiti:
I received a picture today of Ellie. I think you will agree with me she looks shell shocked but ALIVE! Our orphanage directors are working tirelessly to get us info and updates and attempts to get the kids here. When I know something I will try to post here and on my facebook page.
Thank you all for your love and prayers!
Hugs, Kristina
