Well after we told her that, she started weaning herself off her fingers, well more like quit cold turkey. We couldn’t believe it! She was serious about wanting to go to Haiti. She even asked Todd one night to keep Teddy with him because she wanted to see if she could go all night without him. Huh? What happened to our little Meggy? Teddy did end up going to Haiti with us. But I am proud to say Megan no longer sucks her fingers!

I wasn’t sure how Megan would do in Haiti. She is a lot like me and doesn’t like the heat, and as we all know Haiti is all about heat and being hot. Thankfully the weather was very pleasant, well pleasant for Haiti. 90 during the day and low 60’s at night. VERY tolerable! Megan did fantastic! She had one minor meltdown, but the rest of the trip was great! She was such a big helper with Ellie. They got along great. But I think what surprised me the most was her willingness to go wherever at the O. Jessica always stayed close by my side on our trip. Not Megan, most of the time I had to holler to find out where she was. She was always playing with the kids somewhere. I’m sure the team got tired of me hollering, ”Megan Burnett where are you?”

Her favorite turned out to be a new little girl, Julie. She says she had several favorites, but don’t be fooled. She would play downstairs with the big kids but after awhile upstairs she would run for her Julie fix. By the end of the week every time she went into the upstairs nursery, Julie would come running to her. They were so sweet together.

This trip was interesting because there were 3 Megans. Megan who used to be the O's house manager, AKA "big" Megan, my Megan AKA little Megan 1, and Colleen's daughter Megan AKA little Megan 2. My Megan was so excited that there would be another girl her age on the trip and how funny they had the same name! the nannies were so confused at first with all the Megans, but word got around fast and they started calling them big and little Megans.

Before we left for our trip Megan called two of her grandma's and asked them if they had any work she could do to earn money for her trip. SO she had her own money to spend. Thank goodness I was with her or she would have only gotten 2 things total. The vendors would give her a price and she would have just paid it. Silly girl, bardering is fun and a way of life there. Really Megan's main concern was getting things for some of her friends. I had to remind her to get a few things for herself too.
She and I had fun figuring out what to get.

Megan couldn't wait to go swimming in the guest house's pool. Believe me when I say it isn't worth writing home about, but when you are hot and tired, the wetness of the pool is so awesome!!! Megan, Ellie and I had so much fun in the pool!

Megan was so good with Ellie. And I was amazed at how well they got along. Megan is such a good big sister. I am glad they got a chance to meet each other. I think when Ellie gets to come home it will be an easier transition for her with Megan here.
Most evenings they would color together.
Megan did not have any problems sleeping in Haiti!
Megan was very excited about meeting her cousin's. (Troy & Cathy's kids)
Megan, Ellie and Mathania.
All in all it was an amazing trip for Megan. She was so excited to get home and tell all about it to anyone who would listen. Good job Megan! I love you!
Hugs, Kristina

Thanks for all the details Kristina! I'm glad that she had such a good trip!
It was so wonderful to watch you experience Haiti for the very first time, Megan! You are a special young lady! Your mom did a great job capturing your time in Haiti...and especially with your little sister.
That sounds like a great trip!!! Megan I am glad that you had fun!!!
