CHANGE IS IN THE AIR....

...CAN YOU SMELL IT??????

These are exciting times for the Burnett household! So much is changing. GOD is moving and we are excited!

First- We have presidential approval!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those of you who don't know how huge this is I will explain. We have been
in parquet since last September. Because we have biological children we have to get approval from the president of Haiti. We have been waiting so long for this. Now Jonas' file can move again! I am really hopeing his file exits Parquet soon!!!!!

Second- Todd and I have changed churches.

Now before some of you get your panties in a bunch (LOL) this is not a quick made decision. This is something we feel God has been calling us to do for over a year. But we were nervous and stayed put. Silly us.

More recently we felt God calling us so strongly we couldn't deny it anymore. So we sought out or pastor and told him how we were feeling and asked for his release and blessing to do what God was calling us to do. Here is just part of his email to us-

"Certainly you have my blessing. There have been many people over the years that have felt the Lord used CFC in their lives but that He was then calling them on to serve in another place. I have always felt good about that."

Here is what we told our friends:

Dear Friends,

For quite sometime we have felt God calling us closer to him, and praying that he would continue to show us where he wants us to be, and how he wants to use us to have a greater impact on the kingdom. One of Todd's favorite passages by Oswald Chambers is " If you don't take your boat and release yourself from the dock, invariably God will send a storm to knock you off the moorings. God's desire is that we get out into the open water, because it is there that the real relationship happens. A real relationship with God doesn't happen in the harbor, safely tied to the dock. The boat wasn't made to stay tied to the dock; it was meant to sail in the open water." We have felt ourselves for awhile just staying tied to our dock, while at the same time feeling God calling us out into the open water.

We have been diligently seeking him and what those waters look like. After many many hours of prayer, being in his word, and discussion with each other we believe that God is calling us to make another big change. As most of you know through our conversations about our adoption that God has placed an amazing love for the country of Haiti and it's people in our hearts. We have been seeking God's will in how he wants to use us with this people group. Through our prayers we have been lead to many people like ourselves with a love for Haiti and it's beautiful people. We do not know exactly what the big picture of this looks like, but one thing we are confident of is that with this we are being called away from CFC to attend another church.

We have desired for some time a smaller church. A church with a love for Haiti, and a church that we could worship the Lord in the ways that he leads us to. We no longer wanted to be conservative in our worship. We want a church that was equally diversified, so that our children would readily see people of their own skin color at every turn. But most of all we wanted to be where God wanted us to be.

We found a small church, but not to small. They have believed in and supported Haiti for many years! They have their own orphanage. However they haven't started doing adoptions yet, but they want to. The congregation is so incredibly diversified it isn't even funny. Their worship leader is from HAITI!!! And he speaks Creole! Can you believe it? We are excited every week to go to church and see and feel that God is moving in us.

We are so excited about what God is going to do with our family! And we are getting really excited about Jonas getting closer to being home!

WooHooo!!!!!!!!!!! Bring it on God!!!!!

Hugs, KRistina

Thank you for sharing about your church change. We have been feeling unsettled in our home church for several months now, but like you have been nervous & stayed put. After all, it is comfortable there & we know where we fit in. We too want to be more open in our worship & want to find a church more culturally diverse with a love for Haiti. Please pray we will find such a place & have the courage to dive in.

Congrats on presidential approval! I'm thrilled for you.
