Tagged by Laura

I recently got tagged by my friend Laura. I am suppose to share 7 little known facts about myself. I am suppose to tag 7 new people. Problem is everyone I know who blogs has already been tagged. So instead, when you comment, why don't you share 1 fact with me about yourself!

1. When I was born my hips were rotated. So...I wore braces on my legs 23 hours a day from the time I was 6 months old till I was in the first grade. I made regular trips to the pediatrist to have my legs pulled out of socket, rotated to the correct postion and then popped back into socket. The braces had a metal belt that buckled around my waist and had tubing running all the way down the outside of my legs and were permanently attached to my shoes. Ahhhh ...the shoes, baby white. After the braces came off I had to wear what they call "corrective" shoes till 5th grade. The problem is they came in baby white, ugly brown, institutional navy blue or saddle oxfords. Only one year was I in style. The year saddle oxfords were in.

At one point I had a bar that was connected to both my shoes. This caused me to waddle like a duck. My oldest brother thought it great fun to hide in places (ie under furniture, behind doors, and yes even inside a suitcase once) and when I walked by he would pull the bar and I would fall flat on my face crying. That may explain a lot for some of you! LOL

It took many years for me even to have muscle mass on my legs. My mom enrolled me in dance lessons to build up muscles. I believe that is where my love for performing started.

2. My senior year in high school I won a contest on the local radio station to sing back up with REO Speedwagon in concert!! Seriously. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had!!! To sing in front of a huge crowd all cheering for you. Talk about a natural high!

3. Most of you know I am NOT athletically inclined. However you do not know why I don't even try. It is a known fact that if I attempt to play a sport that requires a ball, I get hit in the face EVERY time! It is not my imagination it really happens. After awhile you just don't even try. LOL

4. I always wanted to be Nadia Comineche (sp?) when I was a little girl. I mean come on who wouldn't with a theme song like hers? But ,alas, in gymnastics class while attempting a cart wheel on the balance beam...yes you are already cringing...I fell landing stradling the beam and hit some pretty sensitive places. Never did it again. My gymnastics career over. So I have secretly wished I could be an olympic athlete ever since. (no laughing)

5. I do not eat certain fruits due to the seeds. They make me feel like I am eating bugs. (ie strawberries, kiwi. )Nor do I eat cooked fruit. So that means no pies, cobblers, fruit filled pasteries. It's a texture thing. I like fruit in it's natural state.

6. I am a picker. I LOVE to peel the dead skin off from sunburns. The challenge of getting the biggest piece of skin is so facinating and exciting to me. I realize this grosses most people out but it's true! Todd and the girls now sit patiently and indulge me on this one idiosyncricy.

7. I hate Peas! I have since birth. My mother will tell you she would put a tiny bit of peas on the spoon covered by a whole lot of carrots or other stuff, and I would still spit it out. Only one person has ever forced me to eat them and I swore from that point on I would rather face the wrath of God than eat peas. I know they say your taste buds change as you get older and for those of you that would say I should try them again to see...I have and wanted to puke! I do NOT like the flavor and never will. And yes, if I was starving I still would not eat them! In fact the only bean I will eat is green beans. All others I will not!!!!!!

I will patiently comb through an entire bowl of vegetable soup to scoop out all the peas and lima beans. I have witnesses that it is true. I have had years of experience doing this so I can be patient enough to do it, because I would taste even one pea if it got in my mouth! :)

Bonus fact: I LOVE the ocean! It is the one place I can go and all my fears, thoughts, wishes, dreams, etc. do not bother me. I am free there. Free to just be. There is something that literally feeds my soul. Maybe it's because there I see and grasp how big and complete God really is. If it has been awhile since I have been to the ocean my soul litterally cries out to go with a real tangible ache. I'm an ocean baby.

There you have it, my 7 little known facts.Your turn...

Hugs, Kristina

We have a lot in common! With my club foot I had to wear the metal bar between my feet for the first couple of years of my life. I HATE peas and beans (except green beans). I am not at all athletically inclined, although I LOVE gymnastics and it would have been such a dream to be so good as to get to participate in the olympics! And, I have to admit, peeling sunburned skin does interest me also! However, I absolutely LOVE strawberries and can't imagine life without them. So, I guess we're not twins seperated at birth- but VERY close!

I am a witness to your pea issue. That is absolutely crazy!!! I also laughed so hard about the sports involving balls because I have seen you get knocked out at least once by a volleyball. LOL!!! You are a very interesting person. I'm glad we are friends. You make me laugh!!! Love ya!!!

After reading Angela's I forgot, not sure how, that I almost drowned at 2 years old. My dad jumped half way across the pool to save me.

A fact just for you:

I'm an adrenaline junkie. I enjoy cliff jumping, rock climbing, motorcycles, speed boats, roller coaster, all of it. If it's dangerous, fast, or high, I probably like it. Much of my parents gray hair comes from this.

Kristina -

This may be a wierd thing to share, but I have not thought about this in years, then after reading your list, it popped into my head.

When I was 8 or 9, I saw a man jump off a three story building and land on a concrete sidewalk. I will never forget that sound of his head hitting the ground.

Now you may think that is the most traumatic thing that could happen to a kid - but I got locked in KFC bathroom once and that was scarier.
