Jonas's Birthmother

Ok, I was trying to figure out what to post next. And I figured it was high time to give a little time to the woman who had to sacrifice in order for us to adopt Jonas. His mother.
Over and over again I have heard the same message in my spirit. When God was calling Todd and I to take a HUGE step of faith (starting this adoption process while Todd didn't have a job yet) he was saying trust me. Trust me to provide and to bless your journey with fewer obsticles. Well we feel he has done that. He has blessed us with a good relationship with Jonas's birthmother. I can't help but look back in awe at how God had already prepared an easy path for us where Jonas's birth family was concerned.
I've shared with you before how awesome his birthmother is. And I have lost count how many times people have told us she is one of the best parents the O has ever delt with. You can see that in her actions! I know she visits Jonas on a regular basis at the O. And she has done everything asked of her.

I was once asked if I thought or was ever afraid
that she might change her mind. I told them no. When I was blessed with a meeting with her, I really felt so much more in my spirit than I did thru the translator! I felt and KNEW that she had made up her mind before she ever brought him to the O. If she had had any doubts she would not have brought him there. She truely desires for him to have a better life than what she is able to provide. She loves him, period.

And I was told that when she had to go before the Haitian judge she stood firm and strong in her decision. You have to understand how big that is. It is the job of the judge to question or should I say grill each parent to make absolutely sure they understand what they are agreeing to. Most parents waiver even if a little under the pressure and direct questions. Not Jonas's mother. She was adiment! She understands and that is what she wants for her son! Thank you Lord so much for giving her the strength she needed to stand strong in her convictions!

Todd had a lot more time with her. She was there the day Todd arrived at the O. And she had to go to the DHS appointment with Todd and Jonas. He said she was gracious and went out of her way to help Todd all day. He said when they finally got back to the O she just kept hugging him and saying thank you. He did the same in turn. He said it was cute to watch Jonas and her interact together. He said you could tell she really loved him.

I tell you if there was ever any reason to learn Creole it would be to talk with her. To get to know her better. To tell her about us and Jonas's new family. I have so many questions to ask her, to learn about her and her family. I so much want Jonas to have as much history as possible. But for now, I can tell him the most improtant thing, she loved him. Loved him enough to give him to us. I feel so blessed. I pray on a regular basis that God would bless her for her sacrifice!

Thank you Lord for making this part of our journey a pleasure!
Hugs, Kristina

That is awesome Kristina! I can't wait to have that opportunity with our kids' birthmom. She, too, seems like an incredible woman. We feel blessed that our kids know that their Momma loves them. I'm excited for the chance to thank her and get to know her and ask her tons of questions. Thank you for sharing your personal experience.

Ok, that was an emotional blog. I am just so excited that Jonas will grow up knowing he was dearly loved. What a gift that will be for him to see these pictures of his mother loving on him and knowing she did the best she could and wanting him to have every opportunity available to him. What an amazing woman!!
